Aripiprazole (commonly known as Abilify) is an atypical antipsychotic medication used to treat mental health disorders by balancing neurotransmitters in the brain. It is primarily used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar I disorder (mania), and as an add-on treatment for major depressive disorder. It also treats irritability associated with autism and Tourette syndrome.
